Maltby Academy have again achieved record results breaking through the 50% threshold for the first time with 51% of students achieving 5A* - C including English and Maths. For the second year in a row, all 212 students in Y11 achieved at least 1 GCSE equivalent qualification and the Academy are particularly pleased that almost 1 in every 5 students achieved a minimum of 3 A* or A grades in total. Outstanding individual achievement included:
Aaron Waterhouse - 9 A* and 5 A
Helen Howarth - 7 A* and 7 A
Jessa Chambers - 7 A*, 6 A and 2 B
Claire Barber - 6 A* and 9 A
Lucy Williams - 6 A*, 7 A and 1 B
Rebecca Ford - A*,6 A and 1 B
Next year’s results already look encouraging with almost half the students in Y10 achieving a minimum grade C in English with the top set in Maths already banking 10 A* and 12 A grades one year early.
Particular mention should be made of Jessica Williams in year 9 who has already achieved an A* in Maths gaining the maximum 600 marks – an outstanding achievement.
Mr Sutton, Principal at Maltby Academy, said
“We are extremely pleased with the GCSE results this year. Breaking through the 50% threshold is an important marker for the Maltby Learning Community. Our young people are now achieving in line with students nationally and in many cases, setting the standard with regards the A*/A grades.”
