Mathematics Trial Exam Preparation

The next round of trial examinations for Year 11 in Mathematics will take place during February of Half Term 3.  This will involve two formal papers and a formal ‘Live Trial’ in the hall.  In order to prepare students for this, we are providing structured support in the three weeks leading up to the exams.

Three papers will be sat on the Friday lesson of each week on the run up to week 4 where the formal assessments will begin.

Revision will take place as follows;

Week 1 – Paper 1; the topics for this paper have been provided below, this will give students an indication of the topics to revise.  This will also be an ‘open book’ paper where students can use revision materials and exercise books/folders to help them.  (We will have a small selection of revision guides etc to use however please note it is more beneficial for students to have and use their own.  We have these in stock to purchase through parent pay.)

Week 3 – Paper 3; the topics for this paper have not been provided, it would be wise to think about the topics that have already come up in paper 1 and 2 and revise alternative topics.  This will be an ‘open book’ paper, and as such, students can use revision materials and exercise books/folders to help them. (We will have a small selection of revision guides etc to use however please note it is more beneficial for students to have and use their own.  We have these in stock to purchase through ParentPay.)

At the end of the third week, students will be given the ‘crossover questions’ from all three papers – this is some of the content that they must secure to aim for Grade 4 / 5 as a minimum.

Students can also access revision time within the department on a Wednesday evening, which is dedicated purely to Year 11, but others nights are available by request.
