The Sixth Form Partnership is set to strengthen its distinctive scholarship programme with the introduction of a new Netball Scholarship from September 2027, giving aspiring athletes across South Yorkshire even more opportunities to develop their talents alongside their studies.

A unique collaboration between Maltby Academy and Sir Thomas Wharton Academy, both part of Place Partnership - A Multi-Academy Trust, The Sixth Form Partnership has become known for offering students far more than traditional post-16 education. Alongside a broad range of A Level and vocational qualifications, students benefit from a growing portfolio of scholarships designed to support personal development, sporting excellence and future career progression.

Current scholarship programmes include Football, Boxing and Refereeing, providing students with access to specialist coaching, development opportunities and valuable industry experiences. The launch of the new Netball Scholarship will further enhance this offer, creating another pathway for talented young people to pursue their sporting ambitions while achieving academic success.

The scholarships form part of a wider enrichment programme that helps students develop leadership, resilience, teamwork and communication skills, qualities highly valued by universities, apprenticeship providers and employers. Combined with expert teaching, personalised support and strong progression pathways, The Sixth Form Partnership continues to provide an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to learn more about the scholarships and wider opportunities available at The Sixth Form Partnership's upcoming Open Evenings. The first will take place at Maltby Academy on Tuesday 10 November from 5pm to 7pm, followed by Sir Thomas Wharton Academy on Wednesday 11 November from 5pm to 7pm. Visitors will be able to explore the full range of courses on offer, meet staff and students, tour facilities and gain first-hand insight into life at The Sixth Form Partnership.

Serving students from across Doncaster, Rotherham and the wider South Yorkshire region, The Sixth Form Partnership combines the strengths of two highly successful academies to deliver an ambitious and supportive post-16 experience.

Richard Wood, Principal at Maltby Academy, said:

"The introduction of our new Netball Scholarship is a fantastic addition to the opportunities available through The Sixth Form Partnership. We are committed to providing young people with an education that goes beyond the classroom, helping them to develop their talents, build confidence and achieve their ambitions.

"Our scholarship programmes are designed to give students access to experiences and development opportunities that will support them both during sixth form and beyond. The new Netball Scholarship sits alongside our established Football, Boxing and Refereeing scholarships and further strengthens an offer that is unique within the region.

"The Sixth Form Partnership combines the strengths of Maltby Academy and Sir Thomas Wharton Academy to provide students with exceptional academic teaching, outstanding support and a wealth of enrichment opportunities. Our upcoming Open Evenings are the perfect chance for families to discover what makes our sixth form different and to see first-hand how we help students prepare for successful futures in higher education, apprenticeships and employment."

Through its unique partnership model, The Sixth Form Partnership continues to provide students with access to exceptional teaching, outstanding pastoral support and a wide range of enrichment opportunities that help unlock potential and raise aspirations.
