Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance
Maltby Academy are now working in partnership with CareersInc careers website –
helping young people make decisions about their future. If you are a parent/carer or student, there is lots of useful information - Click here to visit their website for more.
Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) has never been more relevant than it is for today’s young people, a fact which has been recognised by OFSTED and the Department for Education.
At Maltby Academy, we have a robust and structured careers service which provides your son/daughter with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen career field.
Every student has targeted CEIAG lessons which enable them to develop study, employability and enterprise skills and take steps towards becoming a successful and ambitious professional. In addition to this, students receive support in choosing their GCSE options in the form of individual interviews, advice from local and national businesses and time to explore all the courses on offer.
Our employer engagement programme is exceptionally strong, with every student having the opportunity to experience their taught subjects in context, through field trips and talks with professionals. This not only helps strengthen their understanding of the subject but also raises their career aspirations and enables them to see the relevance of their subjects. Students have the opportunity to develop sustained relationships with these professionals to inspire their future and help them become professionals themselves.
The careers advice our students have access to is impartial and unbiased towards any particular institute or qualifications path. Students in years 11 and 13 receive individual advice on completing Apprenticeship application forms, as well as application forms to other educational institutes, be they universities, colleges or specialist training providers.
Maltby Academy enables all students to access independent careers guidance through the online platforms we link with, such as U-explore, and impartial advice through a face to face advisor. This enables students to access information on the range of education or training options available to them Post 16 and Post 18 and ensure they are prepared for their future.
