Maltby Academy Celebrates Gold Mark Award for PE and Sport Excellence

We’re proud to share that Maltby Academy has been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year – a fantastic recognition of the Academy’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality PE and sport provision.
The School Games Mark, funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, recognises schools that are actively promoting competitive sport and physical activity both within school and across the wider community. It’s supported by a national network of 450 School Games Organisers working to ensure sport plays a meaningful role in the lives of children and young people.
Principal Richard Wood shared his pride in the achievement:
“We are delighted to have been recognised for our success this year. With more students than ever taking part in local inter-school competitions, we’re incredibly proud of our pupils—not just for their sporting commitment, but also for the leadership shown by young volunteers, officials and event organisers who made it all happen.”
To earn the Gold Award, Maltby Academy was assessed across a range of areas, including student participation, breadth of competition, leadership and volunteering opportunities, and links with school sports clubs.
“A special thanks must go to the staff who deliver such a broad and enriching programme, and of course to all our students for their energy and enthusiasm,” Richard added. “It’s your involvement that brings our vision for inclusive sport to life.”
