Students have filmed a video ahead of their trip to the Royal Society in London.
The students involved in the Secret Life of Birds project are looking forward to presenting their work during the week long Royal Society Summer Science event which starts on the 3rd July. This highly prestigious event is attended by members of the public, scientists and the press, and their work will be presented alongside projects from all the leading University’s in the UK.
Maltby Academy was the only school to be chosen, based on the enthusiasm and dedication that our students showed when the Royal Society visited us.
This project has seen our students work with scientists from the University of Sheffield to set up nature areas around the Academy site, starting with the placement of 6 bird boxes made by the students. They have also used trail cameras to collect data on bird behaviour and have learnt how to use specialist scientific equipment to analyse bird eggs.
