Students success in Biology competition

Congratulations to the group of Sixth Formers who took part in the recent British Biology Olympiad competition.

The competition challenges and stimulates students with an interest in Biology to expand and extend their talents. It encourages students to demonstrate their knowledge and have a valuable, wide-ranging subject knowledge to continue their study beyond A-level.

They had to sit two papers answering questions, some of which was above A-level standard. The Olympiad involved 3000 students from a range of private and state schools so well done on their awards to:

Edward O’Toole – Silver Winner
Rosalind Brown– Silver Winner
Joshua Waters - Bronze Winner
Fallon Smith - Bronze Winner
Iona Laird - Bronze Winner
Abigail Cutts - Bronze Winner
Jessica Higham – Highly Commended

Maltby Academy are incredibly proud of this group of students on their achievement (pictured below with Mrs Nash and Miss Greenway). Following their success, they have been invited to an awards ceremony at the Royal institute of Biology on Thursday 2nd July 2015.
