MSP Cricket Festival Success

The Maltby Sports Partnership cricket festival is an outstanding success.

The Maltby Sports Partnership (MSP) Cricket Festival saw 120 children participate in an exciting and closely fought tournament at Maltby Academy. Children performed very well with fantastic bowling and explosive shots. The Festival held three tournaments within; Y3/4, Y5/6 and Girls. All the students performed with great sportsmanship and supported each other throughout.

The Festival also welcomed a VIP visitor in England Women and Yorkshire Women’s Captain Lauren Winfield. Lauren, who will be representing England Women in this year’s Ashes, came along to support the Cricket Festival watching matches and answering questions from budding cricketers. It was a pleasure to have her in attendance.

The winners of the tournament will go on to represent the MSP at the Rother Valley School Sports Partnership events at Wickersley Old Village Cricket Club and Anston Cricket Club.

A huge congratulations to:

Y3/4 Champions – Maltby Crags

Y5/6 Champions – Ravenfield

Girls Champions - Redwood

As with all MSP Festivals, Sports Leaders played an invaluable role by umpiring and scoring each match. Kristoffer Eggertsson stepped up as the first Icelandic cricket umpire to grace the fields of Maltby. The Sports Leaders were a credit to the Academy, so a special thank you to:
