Leah's running Success

Read on for Leah's running success.

Leah Hayward in Year 9 is part of the Rotherham Harriers and competes locally and nationally as part of the Harriers team. Leah joined the Harriers four years ago after enjoying running at Maltby Manor Primary School.

Leah is a long distance runner and specialises in 3,000 metres. She dedicates a lot of her spare time to train including a 6 mile run every Sunday morning! In the lead up to competitions she can be training daily.

Leah has recently competed in two major events:

South Yorkshire Schools event

If Leah placed in the top 8, she would go through to the English Schools, based in Norwich.  Leah trained well for this and her coaches were hopeful that she will place in the top 8.

And the result was ….

5th so Leah has made it through to represent English Schools. Well done Leah.

The Under 15’s girls cross country Yorkshire County Championships which saw the Rotherham Harriers placed second overall. Another fantastic achievement.

In a few weeks, Leah will also be taking part in the National Championships.

Leah combines this with her school work and is also part of the athletics and cross country team at Maltby Academy.

Leah loves running and enjoys doing well in competitions. Her family, friends, coaches and all at Maltby Academy are all very proud. Good luck in the forthcoming competitions and watch this space for updates.
