A Level Exam Results – Press Release 2018
Maltby Academy Post 16 students within the Maltby Learning Trust Collaborative Sixth Form have achieved another excellent year of results. 100% of students secured a pass grade with 77% achieving A*-C in their Level 3 A Level and equivalent qualifications. This is both an improvement on the performance of 2017 and particularly pleasing considering the recent national reforms to A Level and Applied A Level.
There was a 9% increase from 2017 in students achieving the highest grades, despite the reported national decline. Notably 5 students achieved 3 A/A* grades, including Georgie Chambers, Matthew Claxon, Sarah Pierpont, Bethany Hunt and Kate Harrison, who achieved A* in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry.
Of students already holding places in Higher Education, over 80% have secured places at their chosen University with 10% successfully securing places at Russell Group universities. While 15% are going on to STEM subjects. Notably students will be studying Medicine at York and Sheffield, Maths at Warwick University, and English at Leicester University.
Over 20% of our students have already secured fantastic apprenticeship positions, with many more already securing employed positions.
Principal Chris Eccles said he was delighted with this year’s outcomes that were a true reflection of the hard work and commitment by both students and staff. A very successful year!
