Maltby Academy’s Race for Life event was a fantastic success. The money has been collected and an amazing £1,598.91 has been raised for Cancer Research UK.
The Primary School Race saw 100 children from Maltby Lilly Hall Academy, Maltby Manor Academy, Ravenfield Primary Academy, Maltby Redwood Academy and the Maltby Childminding group participate in a 2km run. They were supported by Year 10 leaders who were exceptional, enthusiastic and really motivated and inspired the children who they were working with to complete the run.
This was followed by the Secondary Race for Life event where over 120 students from MA and 15 staff completed a 5km run.
So far, nearly £600 has been raised for Cancer Research UK and there is still more sponsor money to collect which is a fantastic achievement. Our youngsters are the generation that could see ground-breaking treatments and cures for cancer in their lifetime. They are the young warriors who could be the researchers and lifesavers of tomorrow. By taking part in Race for Life and uniting together against cancer, they have done something really special and should be extremely proud of themselves.
All of the students were brilliant throughout the day, they were enthusiastic and showed a real commitment to raising money for people they know who have been affected by cancer and to help with the fight against cancer.
