Seven MA students have taken part in this year’s ‘The S Factor’, in collaboration with Hilltop and Kelford Special Schools and a number of other Mainstream Schools.
The event is hugely prestigious and the S Factor final was watched live by over 2000 audience members, packing out the Magna Centre! The production is managed by Momentum World and they were so impressed with MA students that there are talks for them to offer some international opportunities to our group.
Maltby Academy were given the opportunity to work with professionals in special needs education from across Europe, including professionals from Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Austria, Slovakia and Finland. It was an amazing opportunity for us to collaborate internationally.
The students needed to be focused on the tasks they were given, demonstrate a willingness to learn and ask questions, use their initiative to facilitate activities and be role models and positive ambassadors for their school. They were tasked with working in teams with the other students from both Mainstream and Special Schools to create banners and posters to decorate the Magna Centre, prepare businesses to run during the live final and to learn film and photography skills to help document the day and evening events. Our students worked as members of the film crew, stage management and merchandising and were still going strong when the event finished at 11pm! The evening was a great success, seeing 29 amazing acts perform and there were even a couple of celebrity judges!
The seven students involved stepped up and absolutely did us proud, working tirelessly over the two days. Well done to - Ryan Hart, Charlie Hart, Abbigail Platt, Jade Ingram, Jamie Kissack, Callum Lilleker and Marcus Haythorne.
