Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is when someone in your family uses violence or bullying to get another adult to do what they want.  It can include:

  • Physical violence
  • Sexual violence
  • Threats
  • Controlling behaviours including financial
  • Cultural or honour violence

Domestic violence is never the fault of a child or young person.  If a child or young person witnesses, or hears domestic abuse than this is a form of child abuse.

If you are worried that you or a friend are witnessing domestic abuse then you can talk to a trusted adult in school or a member of the safeguarding team who will make sure you are safe, and that you get the right support.
