Welcome to the first stage of your child's move to Maltby Academy. This is an important time for you and your child.
Maltby Academy follow the admission arrangements set out by the Local Authority of Rotherham. The admission arrangements follow a four-step process.
Step One - A parent expresses preferences for up to three secondary schools and ranks their preference in order.
Step Two - The appropriate admissions authority will determine whether or not the child is eligible for admission to each school.
Step Three – A child could be eligible for admission to more than one school. For each school where the child is eligible for admission there is a potential offer of a place. The school at which a place will be offered will depend upon the order the schools are named on the Common Application Form.
Step Four – The parent of a child resident in Rotherham who has completed a Common Application Form receives a written offer of a school place from Rotherham authority on the 1st March.

For Admission to Secondary School in September 2020, the Government has deemed that the National Closing Date for receipt of applications is 31st October 2019. However, in agreement with its neighbouring South Yorkshire authorities, Rotherham Authority will accept all applications for a Rotherham school received up to and including 30th November 2019 as having been received by the closing date.

If you wish to apply by application form please call the Admissions Team at Rotherham Council on 01709 823 777.
National Offer Date: Monday 2nd March 2020.
On the national offer day, the admissions team will establish a waiting list for secondary schools in Rotherham where the number of applications for those schools has exceeded the available places in Year 7. Your child’s name will automatically be put on the waiting list for a school where they have not been made an offer of a place and where that school is ranked higher than the school at which an offer has been made.
All parents need to be aware that their child’s name will not automatically be placed on the waiting list for a school which is named as a lower preference on their Common Application Form than the school for which they have received an offer of a place.
Applying for a place during a school year
If you wish for your child to transfer secondary school during the school year, you need to complete a Common Application Form from the admissions team at Rotherham Council to request a transfer. This form is returned to the admissions team.
If you are not a resident in Rotherham but wish to apply to a Rotherham secondary school you should contact your local authority for advice on how to submit an application.
Maltby Academy run a full transition programme ahead of their move to us in September.
